6 Fun Ways to Entertain Dad on Father's Day in the Northwest

For most dads, a little quality time goes a long way to feeling appreciated by their loved ones. It’s just a matter of finding something local that the whole family will love! Need some inspiration? Here are six ideas to help you create lasting memories this upcoming Father’s Day.

Go Sailing on Elliott Bay

It’s the beginning of summer and the weather is fabulous! If dad is interested in exploring local waters, Father’s Day may be a great time to go sailing. This year, the Elliot Bay Marina in Seattle is offering a special promotion: on Father’s Day, all dads sail for free! For more information, visit Red Tricycle and RSVP to claim your spot on the Schooner Adventuress.

Visit the Museum of Flight

The Museum of Flight is a perfect destination to bring your plane-obsessed dads this Father’s Day. The museum, open to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the 15th, is appealing to all ages. Come by and play!

Take a Cooking Class

Celebrate Father’s Day by immersing yourself in a hands-on cooking class! This summer, on June 15th, Michela Tartaglia will be teaching visitors how to prepare traditional Italian dishes including chicken scaloppini al Marsala and handmade tagliatelle. At the end of the class, visitors will share the meals together at the Atrium Kitchen in Pike Place Market. Delicious!

Attend an Improv Theater Performance

Unexpected Productions, an improv theater located near Pike Place Market, has been performing comedy since 1983. On Father’s Day, the troup will be playing Trapped in a Black Box: An Improvised Hip Hopera, a gritty, tragic narrative full of on-the-spot hip hop, R&B and lots of laughter.  Looking for some quality evening entertainment? This may be the event for you!

Watch a Local Civil War Reenactment

For the dad that prefers the 1860s, take a trip out to Union Gap to watch a reenactment of the Battle at Fulbright Park by the Washington Civil War Association (WCWA). This group works hard to honor heroes of the past by recreating history and educating the public about the events of the time. For more information about event specifics, visit the WCWA website.

Enjoy a Nice Lunch Out on the Town

Sometimes, the best gift is simply good food and quality conversation. Visit Open Table for a list of restaurants that are offering Father’s Day specials.
